2024 -2025 End of School Year Message

Dear Chester Academy Families,

As we wrap up the 2024–2025 school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many accomplishments we’ve achieved together and express my sincere gratitude to our students, staff, families, and community members for their continued partnership and support.

This year was marked by meaningful growth, collaboration, and progress. At the heart of our work was a strong commitment to student learning, professional development, and fostering a safe, supportive environment where every child can thrive.

We are especially proud of our students’ academic growth this year as demonstrated on a daily basis in class and on our end of year state assessment, NH SAS.  Preliminary NH SAS results show strong gains:

  • In math, 59% of students in grades 3–8 scored proficient or above, an increase of 20 percentage points from the previous year
  • Our ELA results show 65% of students in grades 3-8 scored in the proficient or above range, an encouraging increase from last year of 54% proficient or above

These results are a testament to the dedication of our teachers, who integrated targeted instruction and used NH SAS modular assessments to help students become confident and well-prepared.

Curriculum planning was another area of progress. Our PALs (Professional Area Leads) finalized grade-level curriculum overview documents to help families better understand what students are learning at each grade level. After a comprehensive review, we are excited to transition to the updated Eureka Math program for next school year. This transition will be supported by a comprehensive professional development plan, ensuring teachers are equipped for seamless implementation.

We had outstanding participation at our School District Meeting back in March, with 434 registered voters attending. This strong turnout reflected our community’s engagement and commitment to our school.  Our budget passed along with the Chester Education Association Contract, and a warrant article for a new playground.

Facilities planning has also been an area of focus this year, allowing us to undertake several key projects.  Our summer projects include propane tank repairs, HVAC and lighting upgrades, and installation of our new playground. As our facility approaches 26 years of service, we remain committed to ensuring our learning spaces continue to support student well-being and achievement.

The Gladys Nichols Trail entrance will soon be upgraded thanks to the efforts of our staff, local partners, and a generous donation from MLM Construction—an exciting enhancement to our outdoor learning opportunities.

On behalf of the entire leadership team, thank you for your unwavering dedication and involvement throughout this year. I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together and look forward to what lies ahead in 2025–2026.
Wishing you all a restful and joyful summer.

Warm regards,
Christine Landwehrle
