Dear Chester Academy Community,

I am sending this message to you to inform you that a Middle School staff member as well as a sixth grade student have tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member was last in school on Friday, October 8, 2021 and the NH Division of Public Health Services (DHHS) determined minimal risk of exposure for this case. The student, however, was last in school on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2021. Principal Lacroix is working with the DHHS to determine exposure risk and will communicate with specific groups who are considered close contacts.

We have seen the highest number of weekly cases so far this year and they are centered in our middle level.  While we cannot explicitly link these cases, we will continue to monitor and trace our cases closely.  We will be stressing the importance of everyday prevention here at school and may also implement further layers of prevention if necessary.  We ask you to continue to monitor your students closely at home and please not send your child to school if they have any new or unexplained symptoms of COVID-19 this includes even mild symptoms or if someone in their household has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the prior 14 days. Please report any symptoms or exposure to the school nurse.

Thank you again for your partnership in keeping our students safe, healthy, and in-person this school year.

Sincerely,

Sharon Locke, EdD

Superintendent of Schools
