Dear Chester Community,
Thank you to the many residents who joined us for School District Meeting on Wednesday night. We had 434 registered voters in attendance. It was exciting to see our cafeteria so full and to hear from the many community members who shared their thoughts and perspectives.
In New Hampshire, we have a unique opportunity to come together as a community, engage in meaningful discussions, and vote on important issues that directly impact us. This form of direct democracy is a hallmark of New England, and I deeply appreciate the active involvement of our community members.
The following are the results from our meeting:
- Article 3 - Operating Budget - Passed: This article was amended up to the amount the school board originally proposed prior to the budget committee reduction. This article passed 271 to 76.
- Article 4 - CEA Contract - Passed: This article approved our tentative agreement between the Chester Education Association and the Chester School Board. This article passed 247 to 75. All agreed upon contract language changes and new salary schedules will go into effect starting July 1st.
- Article 6 - Playground - Passed: This article passed 185 to 80. A new playground at Chester Academy will be built this summer to replace our aging playground.
You can access a copy of the School Board presentation from School District Meeting here.
I’d also like to remind the community of several open school district positions: two School Board Members, one School District Clerk, and one School Treasurer. A full list of all open school district and town elected positions is available here.
Thank you for your engagement and support of our work.
Sincerely,
Christine Landwehrle
Superintendent
